Bridgespan Capital LLC is managed by Jim Kean and Will HIcks

Jim Kean is the founding member of Bridgespan Capital LLC, and is a Managing Director of the firm. Within Bridgespan his responsibilities and focus revolve around fundraising, project management and investor relations. His real estate market focus is on Latin America and large special development opportunities – particularly on urban infill opportunities and sustainable development.

Prior to Bridgespan, Jim was President and Co-Founder of Sapient Health Network (SHN). While with SHN, Jim pioneered the concept of online consumer health communities, building some of the largest and most loyal groups on the Web today. The company’s service was named one of the “Seven Best Websites of 1998” by Business Week. In 1999, WebMD purchased SHN for $185 million.

After WebMD, Jim served as Entrepreneur in Residence with Alloy Ventures of Palo Alto. While with Alloy, he participated in the investment process of one of Silicon Valley’s oldest venture firms. One of Jim’s key responsibilities at Alloy was to act as a senior executive to assist portfolio companies.

Jim presently serves on the Board of Directors of Portland Center Stage (PCS) – a highly regarded regional theatre – where he is the Co-Chair of the Finance Committee. PCS achieved recognition in 2006 for developing and opening the first Platinum LEED’s performing arts building. LEED’s is an internationally recognized green building standard. An avid outdoorsman, in 1999 he hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. He graduated in 1984 from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR. In 1991 he received his MBA from Tuck School at Dartmouth.

Will Hicks is a Managing Director of Bridgespan Capital. At Bridgespan Capital, Will oversees finance and operational processes of funding transactions. He also has specific project responsibility for certain development projects and workouts.

Prior to Bridgespan, Will was the Manager of Sapling Strategies LLC, a small business consultant based in Seattle, WA. Prior to Sapling headed the private equity investments division of a Fortune 500 Corporation. Will was also a stock analyst for a Wall Street investment bank and was a Wall Street Journal “All-Star Analyst” in 1996.

Will graduated from the Amos Tuck School of Business in 1991 and Duke University in 1986.
